>>13246It's because there's a lot of twitter/bsky misinfo that there were janitors and mods with .gov and .edu addresses (the .edu part is true).
Numerous other people have gone through and verified that there's no .gov addresses in the leak.

>>13260I browsed 4chan since 2009, I never considered using any other *chan full time but watching 4chan circle the drain over the last few years and then visiting 8chan just a few hours ago has changed my mind somewhat. I don't know how many people will return to 4chan when it comes back online, I don't know if a considerable drop in userbase would be a good thing and Hiro changes course or if 4chan ends up being sideline by altchans with superior features and population numbers to stay afloat.

>>13270This is such a ridiculous post completely misses the point.
My prediction (likely correct) is that Hiro will do absolutely nothing to improve the quality of the website, will keep all the awful changes and the users that migrate to 8chan over the coming weeks will have a hard time attempting readjust to captchas and ridiculous post timers, template bait threads and twitter screencaps. The resulting clash will mean that 8chan (and possibly other altchans) will retain their heightened pop numbers. This isn't 2010 where the largest altchan had less users than /i/ on a slow day, this is 2025 where people are likely in their discords, posting on twitter/bluesky and 4chan is offline for extended period of time. 4chans' functionality and moderation will be put under a spotlight when it returns and I seriously doubt they will perform well.
I prefer 4chan, but 4chan's hostile moderation and inept (and likely corrupt) owner will make it unpalatable if there are viable alternatives.
MAYBE hiro was just asleep at the wheel, maybe the changes were largely by moderators and this was just his wake up call. I don't know. All I know is that DJ Acid cockvored flyingsaucer on may 8th 2014 and he hasn't been the same since.
